SHAH ALAM: It was a special day for Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri, the former special officer of Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim when he was again acquitted for using a forged document as genuine.
Mohd Yahya, 46, clad in baju Melayu, smiled upon hearing his acquittal by Sessions judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh who said the prosecution failed to prove a case against him.
He hugged his lead counsel Ahmad Nizam Hamid, friends and family members who packed the public gallery.
When met by reporters, Mohd Yahya said: "I am grateful to Allah for giving a justice in a truthful manner. I am thankful to my lawyers and my friends for their support from the beginning until now."
Mohd Yahya, who is PKR's central leadership council member, was charged over the use of a forged "Resolution for Account Opening for Parti Keadilan Rakyat Selangor" as genuine at a bank in Bandar Sunway on May 14, 2008.
He was acquitted at the end of the prosecution's case but on appeal was ordered to enter his defence by a High Court.
Judge Azhaniz Teh ordered the bail money of RM10,000 to be returned to Mohd Yahya. The judge, however, rejected an application by lawyer Ahmad Nizam for release of a bank account of Selangor PKR which had been frozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
The judge ordered Ahmad Nizam to make a formal application.
