Helping hands: Mas Ermieyati (third from left) with Sri Gading Puteri Umno chief Nor Rashidah Ramli (left) visiting Imanina in Parit Simajan. With her is Imanina’s mother Hamirah (right) and grandmother Rohana Wahab (second from left).
BATU PAHAT: While most parents are cautious with newborns, it is even more important for housewife Hamirah Samsudin to be protective of her two-month-old baby as she was born with her brain outside her skull.
Nur Imanina, who was also born blind, is suffering from heart problems and also has problems with her anus.
“It has been a challenging journey for our family as we knew about Imanina’s problems since I was four months pregnant.
“I never lost hope and am confident that we will get through all these challenges,” said 25-year-old Hamirah when speaking to reporters yesterday at her home in Parit Samijan, Parit Raja here.
Puteri Umno chief Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and members of the wing from the Sri Gading division, who visited Hamirah, hope to raise some funds for Imanina.
Hamirah said doctors have told her to be extra careful when handling Imanina as a slight knock to her brain could cause serious injuries.
She said her daughter was being treated at Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Baru, adding that doctors said Imanina had a slim chance of survival.
Hamirah said her daughter was doing well as she was still able to drink milk although at a very slow pace.
“It takes a lot of patience as she sometimes vomits the milk out but at least it is something,” she said, adding that she prayed every day for a miracle.
She added that surgical and medical costs would undeniably be high as her daughter had many health complications.
“My husband only works in a factory in Pasir Gudang and I also have another three-year-old daughter to look after so we need all the help that we can get,” she said, adding that the escalating cost of living was also not helping her situation.
Mas Ermieyati urged those who wanted to donate to contact her personally for details at 012-7432612.
