KOTA KINABALU: Pensiangan Umno Youth members insist that their delegates had voted for the movement’s national leadership during the just concluded party polls for the three wings.
Its chief Jehan Ongkomog @ Mohd Osman said the wing’s delegates threw their support behind incumbent Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and Jamawi Jaafar, a contender for the deputy Youth chief’s post.
“I personally witnessed the balloting and counting process,” he said, adding that polling at the division covered all the contested posts.
It was earlier reported that the vote from the Pensiangan Umno Youth could not be taken into consideration due to “problems” in the division.
As such, Khairy had only obtained 189 votes from 191 divisions. The other division whose vote could not be included in the tally was Gelang Patah following “technical problems”.
Jehan said Khairy received 194 votes from Pensiangan division Youth wing while Jamawi secured 132 ballots.
Umno executive secretary Datuk Rauf Yusoh said the headquarters was still investigating the matter.
