BUTTERWORTH: A transvestite was murdered in his rented low-cost flat at Taman Pantai Bersih in Bagan Ajam here.
The body of S. Athiswaran, 31, was covered with blood and his hands and legs were tied with a string. His face was also covered with plastic.
Penang CID deputy chief Asst Comm Mohd Nasir Salleh said police rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the public at about 9am yesterday and found the flat door unlocked.
The victim’s body was found on the floor in a bedroom and there were multiple stab wounds on the victim’s abdomen.
ACP Mohd Nasir said based on initial investigations, Athiswaran was living alone in the flat.
“We are still investigating the case to establish the motive and believe that there is more than one person involved in the crime,” he told reporters at the scene.
