KUALA LUMPUR: The house of Perlis Mentri Besar Azlan Man caught fire, completely destroying the top floor of the double storey bungalow.
Azlan was away during the fire but his children, relatives and a maid were im the house when the fire occurred.
They escaped unharmed.
Fire and rescue department operations commander Zahari Mohamad said they recieved the distress call at around 10.43pm on Saturday.
"Five fire engines, a water tanker and 57 firemen were immediately dispatched to the scene.
"When we arrived the fire had spread to about 60% of the top floor," he said when met at the scene.
He said it took his men about an hour to put out the flames adding that no one was injured in the fire.
"We believe the fire originated from the middle bedroom on the top floor of the house.
"The fire destroyed the entire top floor and part of the house roof caved in," he said.
Zahari said the cause of the fire had yet to be identified and forensic personnel are investigating further.
