IPOH: After learning that his niece was kidnapped from her school in Buntong, a man went searching for her with his friends.
They managed to locate the girl with the “kidnappers” in Silibin and proceeded to smash the windscreen of their car.
However, it turned out that they were not kidnappers – just the girl’s boyfriend and his buddies. The girl had played truant and joined them for a joyride in the morning.
A police source said the boy, 18, had fetched the 16-year-old girl from SMK Seri Puteri in the morning on Wednesday.
“A teacher who saw the girl get into the car called the family and told them about the matter.
“The family then went searching in three cars and a motorcycle,” he said.
“At about noon, the uncle finally found the car in Silibin and smashed the car windscreen,” he said.
”The frightened boy quickly drove to the Buntong police station,” he added.
Families of both the boy and girl declined to talk to journalists when met at the police station.
Both families have settled the matter and did not lodge police reports.
