They should stop misleading the party’s central delegates by coming up with all sorts of baseless allegations. - Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek
IPOH: Publicising MCA’s internal problems is never a good thing, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
According to Dr Chua, airing dirty linen in public would cause more harm than good, and highlighting problems the party was going through would only create more unnecessary issues.
“This is why I am here to attend a closed door meeting with central delegates,” he told reporters after meeting delegates from eight divisions from Kinta Valley and Sungai Siput in a restaurant here yesterday.
Dr Chua, who is also the Perak MCA chairman, said supporters of party deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai should refrain from spreading accusations.
“They should stop misleading the party’s central delegates by coming up with all sorts of baseless allegations,” he said.
MCA would hold an extraordinary general meeting on Oct 20 following petitions by 20 central committee members on Sept 30.
One of the four resolutions for the EGM was to censure Liow for his refusal to accept the collective decisions of the party, which has provoked infighting among party members after the recent general election, as well as tarnished the image of the party.
The other three resolutions were for the party to accept appointments by the Federal Government, state governments, local authorities and government-linked companies.
Liow: My request to debate in EGM turned down
