Court dismisses Borders bookstore manager's bid to strike out Syariah charge

KUALA LUMPUR: Borders store manager Nik Raina Nik Abdul Aziz has failed in her bid to get a Syariah High Court to allow her charge withdrawn for distributing the controversial Irshad Manji's translated book.

Syarie judge Abdul Walid Abu Hassan dismissed the application Monday after Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) prosecuting officer Che Saufi Che Hussin said it was up to the Court's discretion to decide the matter.
