GEORGE TOWN: The standard of English among the legal fraternity has been declining rapidly over the years, said DAP national chairman Karpal Singh.
He said many young law graduates showed below par spoken English.
"Many lawyers are reluctant to speak English in courts.
"This is the reality that our standard of English is getting from bad to worse," Karpal told a press conference on Saturday.
Karpal also said the English standard in the country had slipped below that of Singapore.
He noted that English is international language in which many countries have adopted it
"Some ministers in our country don’t even speak good English.
"It makes me wonder how they communicate when they go for international conference," he added.
