ALOR SETAR: Three people have died and at least 60 others have been warded in hospitals after eating suspected tainted food during a feast in Kampung Tempoyak, Tanjung Dawai, near Yan.
It is learnt that all the victims attended the feast on Saturday and started complaining of dizziness and nausea after eating the chicken, beef curry and fish served at the house.
Some of the victims were rush to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani while others sought treatment at Yan Hospital.
However, three of the victims died yesterday.
Norshazana Abdul Rashid, 24, Mohd Nor Rahmat Yusof, 11, and Ibrahim Mohamad, 62, died at 12.45pm, 4pm and 6pm respectively.
Kedah Health Department director Dr Ismail Abu Taat said the department was trying to determine the cause of the food poisoning.
“Food samples from the wedding feast have been obtained for analysis. We have urged those who ate at the wedding to seek treatment immediately.
“We are also closely monitoring the condition of those warded at the two hospitals,” he said when contacted.
