DUNGUN: A woman who was seven months pregnant, her toddler son and a motorcyclist died in an accident involving a motorcycle and a car.
Wan Ayuzita Wan Yosof, 23, was with Mohd Amizi, aged one-and-a-half years, in a Proton Iswara driven by her husband Azmi Mohamad when tragedy struck at 6.40pm on Saturday at KM23 Jalan Paka-Bandar Al Muktaffi Billah Shah here.
Dungun district police chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said Azmi, 41, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a corner.
The motorcyclist, Mohd Nor Samat, 57, who was coming from the opposite direction, was hit.
The victims died on the spot due to severe head injuries while Azmi and his nephews Mohd Arif Basri Adnan, 11, and Ahmad Amizan Akmal Ibrahim, 14, who were also in the car, sustained minor injuries, he said at the Dungun Hospital mortuary here.
Ahmad Zailani said fire and rescue personnel took five minutes to extricate the woman who was trapped in the front passenger seat.
The family were on their way home to Kampung Lubuk Lesung, Kemaman.
Mohd Nor, who was flung about 10m away due to the impact, was returning to Felda Kerteh 4, Dungun, he said. — Bernama
