KUALA LUMPUR: DAP has given its final warning to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) for allegedly "oppressing" the party by forcing it to hold a fresh party elections.
Its national chairman Karpal Singh warned that the party will not hesitate to take ROS to court if it continues to "oppress" the party.
"This is the last warning to ROS. They must change their attitude. We have been monitoring them since December last year.
"I am not going to let ROS go if it is detrimental to the Rocket (party)," he said in his welcoming remarks during the DAP's Special Congress on Sunday.
He also described those who had brought the party to court and attempted to stop the fresh the polls as "traitors" who should be sacked from the party.
"Unfortunately, the party was taken to Courts by our own members.
"Members like these are traitors. How can you bring such a gigantic party to the court?" he said.
He said that the 85% turn out of members nationwide during the special congress indicated that DAP is still a strong party.
"After the special congress, we want to be left alone and get on with our work," he said.
Karpal also thanked the delegates present, praising the high turnout.
"I can see that see that every state is represented today and for that I would like to congratulate all my friends who have come from near and far. This is our way of telling the ROS to not mess with us as we are a party with principals," he said.
It was reported that DAP was told to hold fresh elections following the furore over their December 2013 party elections.
An alleged "technical error" saw none of DAP's Malay candidates being elected to the central executive committee CEC last December.
