KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled an international drug syndicate from Nigeria after four drug mules were nabbed and syabu and cocaine valued at RM1.5mil seized since Monday.

Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director, Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim, said the drug mules were two men and two women aged between 20 and 31.

"A local man and woman, a Nigerian man and a Thai woman are being detained under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he told reporters.

He said they tried to smuggle 495 grammes of cocaine and 9.16 kg of syabu in stages into the country.

"They were arrested separately at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal and a hotel in Sepang," he said.

Noor Rashid said all the four were believed to have been recruited by the syndicate to smuggle in drugs.

He said the successful operation was due to public tip-offs and police enforcement activities at the entry points. - Bernama
