The Killers' frontman Brandon Flowers.
SEPANG: American indie rockers The Killers laid down a mind-blowing set at the Sepang International Circuit on Sunday night, driving the crowd wild with fan favourites like Human and Mr Brightside - along with a quirky cover or two.
The bittersweet crooning of Brandon Flowers was accompanied by Dave Keuning on the guitar, Jake Blanton replacing an injured Mark Stoermer on the bass, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr on the drums.
But loudest of all were the fans, who sang along to every song and enthusiastically participated in every call-and-response Brandon set up.
From the plaintive A Dustland Fairytale to the heartbreaking Read My Mind, the upbeat yet somewhat sinister Mr Brightside and the anthemic All These Things I've Done - The Killers rocked the night away.
The cheeky quick-witted Brandon also did a cover of I Think We're Alone Now, originally sung by Tommy James and the Shondells but made popular by 80s teen pop icon Tiffany.
Writer Joe K, 27, was thrilled that he'd have another chance to catch one of his favourite bands live. He had bought tickets to The Killers 2010 Singapore show three months before the concert date but it was cancelled at the last minute.
"I was devastated when The Killers cancelled their concert in 2010 two days before so I prayed they would come back. Now that they did, I feel like I've accomplished a lifelong mission. I've been to many live shows but that was the best concert I've ever been to!"
