MAKKAL Osai reported on the plight of an accident victim who had to endure pain for nine hours without treatment at the Teluk Intan Hospital.
S. Vijayakumar, 53, sustained serious injuries to his hand and legs after a road accident. He was admitted to the hospital at 12.30pm on Thursday but not given any treatment until 9pm.
His wife T. Kaliamma confronted nurses who told her that there was no specialist around to treat him.
Hospital director Dr Kamaruddin Alias apologised for the delay in treating Vijayakumar.
He said Vijayakumar was first admitted to the emergency ward and then sent to a bone specialist for further examination.
He was referred to another ward for further treatment and requested to come back for a second examination, with the last treatment given to him at 11pm.
