JOHOR BARU: State DAP chairman Dr Boo Cheng Hau(pic) has blamed PKR and PAS for Pakatan Rakyat’s failure to take over Johor in the 13th general election.
“Worst of all, certain quarters in (Johor) PAS and PKR were actually more inclined to believe Umno and Barisan Nasional’s orchestrated propaganda that DAP is a ‘Chinese chauvinist party’ and that Malay dominance is at stake if DAP wins ‘too many seats’,” he said in the article published on Sept 9.
“Both PKR and PAS have disappointed us from the very beginning through their refusal to accept the recommendations of Johor DAP on the seat distribution between our three parties,” the Skudai assemblyman said in the article.
In response, Johor PKR Legal Aid Bureau chief Jimmy Puah Wee Tse, who is also the Bukit Batu assemblyman, said that Dr Boo should have brought up such matters in a closed-door meeting.
He added, however, that Dr Boo had sent him a text message informing him about the article and the message had included an apology.
Johor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Mahfodz Mohamed also said that it was not right for Dr Boo to criticise the Opposition coalition so openly.
“Johor PAS, led by me, had gone all out to reach out to the voters in Johor and we have no regrets,” he said.
Out of the 56 state seats and 26 parliamentary seats in Johor, DAP won 13 state seats and four parliamentary seats, PKR won one state and one parliamentary seat and PAS won three state seats in GE13.
