Traffic policemen directing vehicles as the traffic flow along Federal Highway near Sg Rasau toll came to a standstill due to flash floods following a heavy downpour.
KLANG: Several areas here and in Shah Alam were flooded after a prolonged downpour in the wee hours.
The flash floods, which also affected the Federal Highway, forced motorists to make a U-turn before the Sungai Rasau toll as water flooded the highway near the Batu Tiga area.
According to the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), the downpour also hit other districts in the state.
“This situation is expected to last for quite some time and there will be strong winds,” it said in its Facebook page yesterday.
Meanwhile, motorists complained that the downpour caused many of them to report late for work.
“I was stuck in a traffic jam from Klang to the Sungai Rasau toll for more than an hour. I decided to return home later,” said G. Suresh.
The fire and rescue control room said the downpour started at 6am and lasted until about 10am.
Among the areas affected in Klang were Bandar Puteri, Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Taman Eng Ann and Taman Selatan while several areas in Kapar were also affected.
