Total destruction: The destroyed Proton Wira that smashed into two trees and was hit by an oncoming car along Leburaya Bukit Jalil.
KUALA LUMPUR: Three students from an automotive college in Kajang, Selangor, were killed while their tutor was badly injured in a horrific accident after returning from a drift racing event at Speed City KL in Bukit Jalil.
It is believed that the tutor, Mohd Hairi, 20, could have lost control of his Proton Wira while driving in the heavy rain on Leburaya Bukit Jalil at 6.30pm yesterday.
The car crashed into two trees on the road divider of the highway and flipped over onto the opposite lane.
The victims were dealt yet another blow when their car collided with an oncoming Toyota Altis.
The deceased were Hafizuddin Nazri, 18, Zul Zyren Zaharuddin, 18, and Mohd Nasaruddin, 20.
The accident caused a traffic snarl along the highway with onlookers slowing down to watch while traffic police and Fire and Rescue Department officials cut through the twisted metal car to extract the bodies.
A security guard at the Teknology Park Malaysia said the crash had caused the congestion since 7pm and police had shut down the lanes at the scene and cars were diverted to nearby roads.
