PETALING JAYA: Klang Valley residents have been told not to panic as the contamination of Sungai Selangor with diesel has been contained and water supply has resumed in several areas.
"There is no crisis and no one needs to go out to stock up on water," said Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment Committee chairman Elizabeth Wong.
"The cleaning up (of the river) has been carried out except for some minor patches of diesel.
"The reservoir is already filling up but it will take some time for the water to reach the people, especially those living further away," she said on Saturday.
She added that she had been receiving reports of resumption of water supply in many places but with low pressure.
