Searching for evidence: Police officers investigating at the scene where the man shot himself in his car in Taman Bidara Selayang.
KUALA LUMPUR: A 35-year-old-man who was believed to have shot himself in the head after a drug deal went bad died while receiving treatment at the hospital in Batu Caves here.
Yap Boon Hua, who is believed to be a drug peddler, was found covered in blood in a Proton Wira Aeroback at 1pm yesterday in Taman Bidara Selayang with a Berreta pistol in his right hand before he was sent to the Selayang Hospital for treatment.
Yap, a former convict who is connected to seven previous cases, was pronounced dead at 2pm.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the man was believed to have shot himself as there were no signs of struggle or forced entry into the vehicle.
ACP Abdul Rahim added that police also found a gun magazine and a black pistol case in the car.
A check at the hospital revealed that the man had a gunshot wound on the right side of his head.
