JOHOR BARU: A lecturer was jailed six months by the Sessions Court here for accepting a bribe of RM37,069.40 from a contractor about four years ago.
Judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz found Azmi Hassan, 50, guilty of accepting the money from a contractor over two renovation projects at the Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Temenggong Ibrahim in Jalan Datin Halimah here on Aug 24, 2009.
Azmi was overseeing an upgrading work of the sewerage system and a flat within the college compound valued at a total of RM397,926.
The bribe was allegedly given so that Azmi would sign the approval form to release payment to the contractor.
