A RETIRED customs officer turned heads at the joint bersanding ceremony of his three children by making an entrance as a bridegroom himself, reported Harian Metro.
The unique event happened in Johor Baru, when Dahalan Jantan, 61, took turns at the dais with his daughter Nur Darina Maisarah, 21, sons Mohamad Azlan Shah, 23, and Mohamad Zikri, 25, and their respective partners.
Dahalan, who has 11 children in total, was convinced he had to remarry after his wife passed away last November from a heart attack.
His partner turned out to be his late wife’s youngest sister, Azizah Shariff, 39, who works with a shipping company.
The couple had their akad nikah ceremony on Jan 21 while Mohamad Zikri solemnised his marriage to Azhalinda Marsiman, 25, last year.
Last Friday, Nur Darina married Amir ‘Ifwat Musa, 21, and Mohamad Azlan Shah married Hartini Mohd Hatim, 23.
> The daily also reported that followers of a couple involved in deviant teachings would kiss their “parents’ cheeks, foreheads and feet after prayers” inside a cave in a state in the east coast.
The two, known only as “Ayahanda” and “Bonda”, allegedly spread teachings based on the man’s experiences with wildlife.
Their followers, whose number is unknown, would perform the solat in the cave as the couple, seated on a pedestal, watched over them.
Jais policy, fraud and indoctrination assistant director Shahrom Maarop, who revealed the matter, said among the teachings spread by the man, in his 60s, was that solat was not compulsory for Muslims.
“The founder also admitted that his teachings were not based on the Quran and hadis, but on the knowledge he gained while learning in the jungle,” he said.
Shahrom added that the teachings also did not emphasise on dressing, as the man would wear shorts and a torn shirt, even while performing the solat.
