KOTA KINABALU: Two people were hurt when an arch at the finishing line for the first leg of the cycling tournament Tour of Borneo toppled over due to strong winds.
The two were technical staff Martin Mansur and his wife, Joan Damianus, who were hit by the falling structure.
The tournament, which saw the participation of 120 cyclists from 20 teams around the world, including from Spain and Germany, started from yesterday and will end on Thursday.
The first lap of the tournament is a 108.7km trek from Kota Kinabalu to Tuaran before proceeding to Kota Belud, Tanjung Aru, Papar, Kundasang and back to the state capital.
The entire journey will cover almost 700km. — Bernama
