Sanjeevan’s dad wants Bukit Aman to handle shooting case

KUALA LUMPUR: MyWatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan's father wants investigations into his son's shooting be immediately handled by Bukit Aman instead of Negeri Sembilan police over concerns of conflict of interest.

P. Ramakrishnan, who was accompanied by MyWatch advisor S. Gobi Krishnan, made the request at Travers police station in Kuala Lumpur.

"Sanjeevan's father made the request because Sanjeevan had lodged police reports against several police personnel (in Negeri Sembilan) so there my be conflict of interest if state police handle investigations.

"He is also worried about his son's safety," Gobi told reporters on Tuesday.

They are also seeking a meeting with Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah.

Asked about Sanjeevan's condition, Gobi said that he was still in an induced coma and on a ventilator.

"Doctors have advised that surgery is not of importance now. The bullet is not causing any harm in its present location and surgery may be even riskier.

"What is important is that he be able to breathe on his own," he said, adding that Sanjeevan could not speak when he briefly regained consciousness.

Asked to comment on his son's condition, Ramakrishnan said Sanjeevan was still in critical condition.

"I came to lodge the police report because I am worried for my son's safety but I cannot say more than that. I am confident that police can solve the case," said Ramakrishnan before becoming choked with tears.

Sanjeevan was shot by a motorcycle pillion rider on July 27 at a traffic light in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan.

One bullet pierced his lung, causing an infection which delayed surgery to remove the bullet.

He is currently in the Serdang hospital under police guard.
