KUALA LUMPUR: A reduction in the overall number of seats for critical courses in public universities has been identified as one of the reasons why top scorers fail to enter public universities or obtain their chosen fields of study.
Data provided by MCA Youth shows that for the past three years from the 2011/2012 session, the intake for medical, dentistry and pharmacy courses shrank by between 12% and 30%. (See chart)
