Can't confirm rape by medical examination alone, doc tells court

KOTA KINABALU: A doctor testified that medical examination alone cannot confirm if a 13-year-old schoolgirl was raped although there were bruises on her private parts.

Dr Munawwirah Ismail from the Obstetrics and Gynaecological Department at the Likas Women’s and Children’s Hospital told the Sessions Court she found no tear in the hymen of the girl, who was later taken as the second wife of 40-year-old Riduan Masmud, whom she accused of raping her.
