KUALA LUMPUR: The excise duty on imported cars will not be abolished as it is not a guaranteed mechanism to cut down car prices, said the International Trade and Industry Ministry.
Its Deputy Minister Hamim Samuri told the Dewan Rakyat that even if the Government decided to abolish the excise duties, car prices could still be set by car suppliers and assemblers.
