LAHAD DATU: Ops Daulat, the successful operation to flush out armed Sulu intruders here on March 15, has officially ended on Saturday as the National Security Council placed full responsibility to the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM).
Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, who is the state security council chairman, said that ESSCOM was now responsible to put in place security arrangements and undertake operations under the Ops Daulat area.
ESSCOM has now adopted a new operational codename Ops Sanggah, Musa said during a special appreciation parade for Ops Daulat.
Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) will spearhead all operations from northern Kudat to south-eastern Tawau to ensure Sabah’s eastern sea borders are safe from any threats, said Musa.
Among those present at the parade mounted by 16 officers and 415 security personnel from various agencies were Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim at the Felda Sahabat 16 football field.
