Penang freak storm: MPPP technician transferred out


GEORGE TOWN: A senior Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) technician has been transferred out for allegedly failing to report to his superior a CCTV footage showing the lightning arrester crashing onto a passing car in Jalan Macalister on June 13.

The technician, who was in charge of the council’s CCTV operation and control room at Komtar level 13, was not in the control room when the windstorm hit the island at about 6.45pm as it was after working hours.
