KOTA BARU: Hair salon operators here are turning to defeated Barisan Nasional candidate Tan Ken Ten to get refunds of the fines imposed under the Kota Baru Municipal Council’s controversial gender segregation regulation.
The fines were imposed under Section 107(2) of the Local Council Act by-law prohibiting a woman from cutting the hair of a man and vice versa, regardless of religion.
