KUALA LUMPUR: Screening for genes linked to hereditary breast and ovarian cancers can cost up to RM6,000 in Malaysia and the process takes about three months, said consultant breast surgeon Datuk Dr Yip Cheng Har.
“Only women with a strong family history of breast cancer, meaning that if both sides of their families have had cancer for example, should consider screening,” she added.
