PETALING JAYA: General election candidates who change their mind about contesting in the May 5 polls can opt to stop campaigning. However, their names will still be included in the ballot papers on polling day, and any vote they receive will be counted.
Election Commission deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said candidates were no longer given a grace period of three days after nomination day to formally withdraw and have their names removed from the ballot papers.
