IPOH: DAP has named heart surgeon Dr Ko Chung Sen for the Kampar parliamentary seat, where he will face Barisan Nasional's Datuk Lee Chee Leong from MCA.
Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming announced Dr Ko's candidacy at the opening of the DAP Kepayang operations room here yesterday.
Nga also announced that he would be the party's candidate in the Kepayang state seat.
Dr Ko said it was an “honour” to be fielded and that he would use the opportunity to speak out, among other issues, against corruption.
The 44-year-old doctor at the Ipoh Specialist Hospital, however, admitted he had not contributed much to the party because of his hectic schedule.
Meanwhile, Nga criticised Barisan's move to name independent Kulim-Bandar Baru MP Datuk Zulkifli Noordin as its candidate in the Shah Alam parliamentary constituency.
He accused Zulkifli, who is Perkasa deputy president, of being a “letdown” because he had reportedly stirred up racial sentiments by insulting the Indian community.
