AT 13, Hoh Kam Thong and his family fled to Bentong to escape the atrocities committed by the invading Japanese army that they had seen in Kuala Lumpur.
Now 85, the retired mechanic regards this once tin-rich town, about 80km northeast of the capital city, as his sanctuary which he sees blooming into a bustling commercial and light-and-medium industries centre.
