Use temple to strengthen unity, MP urges Indian community

A MEMBER of parliament has said that the temple should not be just for worship but also a place to strengthen unity and growth among the Indian community, Tamil Nesan reported.

Hulu Selangor MP P. Kamalanathan said that temples should organise more social and religious activities.

He said that temples should not only organise their annual festivals but should also have community programmes to help the people in their area.

He was speaking to reporters after launching the Tamilar Unity Day, which was held at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple hall in Kalumpang on Monday.

> Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa had ordered free medical treatment for a four-year-old girl who was bitten by stray dogs at Guduvancherry in Tamil Nadu a couple of days ago, Malaysia Nanban reported.

It was reported that S. Dhanapriya, who lives in Guduvancherry, was attacked by stray dogs and sustained serious injuries in the face and head on the way to school.

The chief minister had ordered to provide medical treatment, including performing plastic surgery, at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
