KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has called on the United Nations to focus on the issue of violence against women and girls and not to be sidetracked by elements that are not universally accepted.
Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Datuk Hussein Haniff said in his speech that though a great amount of effort had been made, the challenge now was to ensure the policies, legislation and programmes remained relevant to the ever changing and challenging issue of violence against women and girls.
