PETALING JAYA: Head to i-City Shah Alam tonight to welcome the Year of the Snake with 988FM deejays at their Ular La Chinese New Year Countdown 2013.
Nine deejays who will be hosting the event at i-Walk tonight, will play interactive games with the audience and sing and dance as well.
The Star Media Group radio station DJ Yihui Tan said they had practised for four months to perfect their routine, which will include several new songs from 988FM's Chinese New Year studio album this year.
“It's titled 988 Ular La Guo Hao Nian, which means have a prosperous, wealthy and good year during the Ular (Snake) Year.
“We composed the lyrics ourselves,” she said.
DJ PM Wang said he had also written a song called Moving Forward, which was about the importance of embracing the future and letting the past go.
Many goodies will be given away, including limited edition CDs and DVDs of 988FM's Chinese New Year studio album, as well as ang pow and posters.
A fireworks display will also light up the sky at midnight.
DJ Sam Mak said they were very excited about their performance, “although we can't dance like Beyonce”.
“I think this Ular year is special and our Ular La catchphrase is uniquely Malaysian.
“Plus, in Hokkien, the pronunciation U-lar means got lah,” she pointed out, adding that this could refer to prosperity and happiness.
Besides DJs Yihui, PM and Sam, visitors will also be entertained by DJs Anson Kow, Nick Ng, Teddy Chin, Kian, K.K. Wong and Jason Poon onstage.
They can also enjoy the 88-seat carousel ride free of charge tonight, while 1,000 free ice-creams will be given out daily from tomorrow until Feb 24 in the SnoWalk attraction.
I-City will also host lion and dragon dances as well as a walkabout from the God of Prosperity from Feb 10 to Feb 24, while more fireworks displays will also be held on Feb 23 at midnight, as well as on Feb 10, 11 and 16 at 10pm.
The 988FM Ular La Chinese New Year Countdown 2013 is happening at 10.30pm tonight at i-City, Shah Alam.
