KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actor and comedian Datuk Yahya Sulong died of old age at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital here Wednesday. He was 84.
National Association of Artistes (Seniman) president Rozaidi Jamil or Zed Zaidi, when contacted, said Yahya passed away at 6.45pm and his remains would be taken to Teluk Intan, Perak for burial.
Yahya acted in 24 films, with his first film role in Abu Nawas.
He was noted for his role in movies like Gila-Gila, Putus Sudah Kasih Sayang, Da Di Du, Toyol, Prebet Lapok and Senario the Movie in 1980s.
Yahya also starred in television sitcoms like Hang Setia along with R. Jaafar, Param and Hamid Gurkha, and Si Jantung Hati.
He leaves behind his wife, Datin Alisah Ali and 11 children. - Bernama
