PETALING JAYA: The full post-mortem report on William Yau Zhen Zhong, whose body was found on Jan 24 near a jetty in Port Klang, offers no definite answers to the cause of his death.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said police obtained the report on Monday but it failed to lead to further revelations into how the six-year-old boy died.
"The full result was obtained as per procedure. Despite not revealing anything new, the full report will assist us to wrap up our investigation," he said Tuesday.
He explained police would close the investigation on Friday and propose to the deputy public prosecutor for an inquest to be started.
"We have worked tirelessly for the past three weeks but it has not yielded any new clues or workable theories.
"At this juncture, an inquest is the most suitable thing," he said.
ACP Yahaya said police have not identified any suspects in the case.
"There are no visible signs of abuse and William's parents are not suspects.
"More than 30 statements have been recorded but there is no evidence that suggests foul play," he said.
He added that police would comb through the areas where William went missing as well as where his body was discovered.
"We are giving it one final push this week to find any new clues that might help us to solve the case.
"We will leave no stones unturned in our pursuit,” he said.
ACP Yahaya said there was still a possibility that William's death was a result of a nasty accident but police are not ruling out other angles.
