KUALA LUMPUR: With just a click of the computer mouse, you can help Petronas enrich the lives of hundreds of less fortunate people this Chinese New Year.
All you need to do is visit its official Facebook page to make a pledge to support six charity homes in the country through the oil corporation's festive campaign, themed Five Pillars of Happiness: A Celebration of Culture and Tradition.
Petronas group corporate affairs division senior general manager Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah kicked off the campaign by making the first pledge and sharing it with his Facebook friends yesterday.
“Once we reach 25,000 pledges, Petronas will contribute in kind to the six homes. So, do support us so we can give more,” he said during the launch held at the foyer of Petronas Philharmonic Hall here.
The pledges will benefit, among others, Rumah Keluarga Kami (Kajang), Shelter Home (Petaling Jaya) and Pusat Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Bahagia (Malacca).
In the list are also Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Pengurusan Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Anning (Ipoh), Rumah Kanak-Kanak Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) and Sarawak Cheshire Home.
The campaign ends on Feb 24.
Mohammad Medan said the programme drew its inspiration from the auspicious blessings of luck, wealth, longevity, health and tranquillity that were shared each time the Lunar Year rolled around.
“While everyone is celebrating the new year, it is important to also remember the less fortunate.
“It is said that when one wishes another good tidings, good will fall upon the person,” he said.
“This year, we would like to invite you to go a step further. Instead of just wishing the person luck and health, we want you to make a difference in society and our on-ground activation programme is specifically designed to do that,” Mohammad Medan said.
“The act is so simple, yet so meaningful.”
