KULIM: A 38-year-old man was shot dead at close range by a gunman at Taman Gemilang in Lunas here.
The victim, Low Kah Soon, a contractor, had no way of escape – the gunman, who was on a motorcycle, had waited patiently for his “target” before firing the fatal shot.
The incident happened around 1.15am yesterday, just after Low had parked his vehicle some 10m from his house after meeting up with friends in a nearby coffee-shop here.
Neighbours claimed the gunman had been seen prowling around the residential area several times prior to the shooting.
Low’s brother, who declined to be named, said the family overheard the sound of a gunshot but thought that it was just firecrackers.
“My brother’s 15-year-old son then walked out and was shocked to see his father lying dead in front of the house,” he said yesterday.
Low, who was a Lunas volunteer crime watch supervisor, leaves behind a wife, two sons and a daughter aged between five and 15.
Kulim OCPD Supt Ghuzlan Salleh said Low died on the spot after being shot in the head.
Anyone with information on this case can contact the nearest police station.
