BUTTERWORTH: A 27-year-old bouncer was killed in Lorong Desa Murni here after the bullet penetrated his chest.
Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said: “Police found a bullet shell and four boxes of firecrackers, believed to be used as explosives.”
Six suspects – five locals and a Vietnamese – have been arrested.
Police said they were all high on drugs and alcohol.
Police are probing the matter to ascertain the motive of the killing.
Another man in his 20s, believed to be the main suspect, was also picked up in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, George Town, after police traced him through his Honda Accord car.
He was brought to the district police station in Patani Road to assist in investigations.
Penang CID Chief Senior Asst Comm Mazlan Kesah confirmed the arrest.
DCP Abdul Rahim said the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
