Ship fire death toll rises to three, two still missing


LABUAN: The death toll from the MISC tanker MV Bunga Alpinia 3 fire rose to three as fears of environmental pollution began tapering as firemen have almost put out the fire after battling it for 30 hours.

The two decomposing bodies of Mohd Hanafi Khalil, 24, from Malacca, and Zahari Hassim, a 46-year-old from Negri Sembilan, were recovered separately at 12.40pm and 12.57pm yesterday, about 30m away from the scene of the blaze at Petronas Methanol Labuan jetty at Pulau Enoe here.
