JOHOR BARU: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wants Barisan Nasional component parties to pull their weight in the coming general election and not just rely on Umno's support.
He said everyone should go down to the ground to meet the voters.
He also reminded Umno members to support any candidate chosen by the Prime Minister to stand on a Barisan ticket.
"Do not question the candidate chosen by the party president (and) the candidate chosen by the component partes," he said when opening the Gelang Patah Umno division meeting here.
He outlined three strategies Umno must adopt in the general election. They are ensuing continued unity at divisional levels, improving relationship between Umno and component parties and resolving issues faced by the people.
He later announced RM500,000 to be used to resolve problems in the area. The Gelang Patah constituency has 104,040 voters.
