Govt sets aside RM5.2bil for rural development


KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allocated RM5.2bil for Improving Rural Basic Infrastructure NKRA aimed at setting up basic amenities such as supply of electricity, clean treated water, construction of rural roads and housing assistance.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the allocation was the government's commitment to ensure rural people, including those in Sabah and Sarawak, would be able to enjoy quality amenities comparable to that of urban areas.
