PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has invited his DAP counterpart Anthony Loke to work together with the Election Commission (EC) to “clear the electoral list of any suspicious voters”.
The call was made by Khairy in a debate with Loke, titled “The Election Process: Is it NOT Free and Fair?” on the online debate network iPidato yesterday.
Khairy added that he was disappointed that only 10 MPs turned up at the EC briefing in Parliament on Monday.
Khairy pointed out to Loke that even he (Loke) had been absent from the briefing.
“How are we going to work towards a bipartisan solution to ‘clean’ the electoral list when Pakatan Rakyat leaders have already decided that the best way forward is to not engage with Barisan Nasional and press the EC on outstanding issues, but to take to the streets?” asked Khairy, who is also the Rembau MP.
Rasah MP Loke, who was a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reforms, replied that he was at a meeting at the time.
“If we are not seeking a ‘bipartisan solution’, we would not have been in the PSC in the first place,” Loke said.
