KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammudddin Hussein said Tuesday that the newly-tabled Malaysia Volunteer Corps (Rela) Bill 2012 would "empower" Rela members in more relevant ways despite taking away their power to detain, arrest, or carry firearms.
"We have increased the power of Rela in more relevant areas such as training, or welfare of members. We will get them involved in the national agenda, work with other ministries, work with members of Parliament.
