KUALA LUMPUR: Traders who sell products to Muslims but who fail to display the halal certificate and logo issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and the State Islamic Religious Departments (JAIN) will face a fine and imprisonment effective July 1.
The director of the Halal Hub Division of Jakim, Hakimah Mohd Yusoff said that from that date, Jakim would no longer recognise halal certificates issued by the private sector.
