A MAN in his 50s from Kota Baru, Kelantan, certainly has a way with women as he has managed to acquire six wives, reported Harian Metro yesterday.
The man allegedly took his fifth wife in March last year and his sixth a month later. The last two marriages were registered in Thailand.
His extra marriages were exposed by a cousin who only wished to be known as Hani, 40.
“It is a serious offence as he has gone against Islamic law by taking more than four wives,'' she said.
Hani added one of his four wives went to the Islamic Religious Affairs Council as she was curious about his many disappearances late last year.
Records showed that two marriages were registered in a province in southern Thailand.
Hani said she constantly advised her cousin but it fell on deaf ears.
“Up to this moment, he is still a husband to all six wives.
“I hope he comes to his senses and that religious bodies will be more aware of cases like this,'' she said.
> Harian Metro also reported an eight-year-old boy almost lost his tongue after knocking his chin against the edge of a seesaw at a playground in Desa Rahmat, Johor Baru, last Sunday.
His mother Noor Fadzilah Daud, 40, did not know that her son, Awang Hadri Awang Sebawi, had gone to the park with his five-year-old brother and some friends at 11am.
She was shocked to see him crying when he came home with the tip of his tongue limp and bleeding.
According to her, Awang's friend had accidentally stepped on one end of the seesaw, resulting in the other end hitting his jaw, causing him to bite his own tongue.
The boy received 20 stitches.
Three days after the incident, the second of four children still finds it difficult to talk.
