KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods hit various areas in the city after a heavy thunderstorm Thursday evening.

The affected areas included Ampang Jaya, Lebuh Ampang, Jalan Pinang, Kampung Baru, Ampang, Taman Kosas, Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

Netizens who were caught in traffic tweeted continuously about the floods, thunderstorm and bumper-to-bumper crawl. Some even posted pictures of the flooded roads as they waded through them.

Many shared their updates and frustrations at the KL Traffic Update twitter page, including those about fallen trees and stalled cars.

@StroberiMasam warned people not to enter Kampung Baru and shared a picture of rising waters in the area.

Netizen @neeti371 tweeted about the flash floods on Jalan Sultan Ismail, and said: "Many cars have 'died'.. Be careful guys."
